Community Information Sessions

Thank you to those who were able to come to the Community Information Sessions held on Tuesday and Wednesday this week to meet the team and be taken through the construction staging. 

If you were unable to visit us during one of the sessions, the information is available on the project website.


Together with BMD we are working closely with all stakeholders to keep the community up to date on the upgrade. A dedicated Community and Stakeholder team has been established and has been meeting with stakeholders throughout the week. The team will continue to meet with businesses and residents to understand their individual needs and explain the construction and immediate works. What has been happening

SA Water The relocation of the SA Water main is well underway. This work is being undertaken to move approximately 200m of water main to allow for the upgrade works to occur. SA Water, through their contractor BTR Excavations, having being working overnight in a northbound directing, reinstating the road each morning for normal use. This work commenced on Sunday 19 May 2019 and is anticipated to take 4 weeks.

BMD In preparation for the upgrade, BMD have been undertaking night works to identify the location of service utilities at the Park / Mitchell Street intersection with King William Road. These works are necessary to understand what services re under the road surface prior to installing the required stormwater infrastructure.


What will be happening next

Prior to commencing kerb and paving works, work needs to be undertaken to install stormwater and drainage pipes and pits and service connections. During this stage works will be undertaken at night, with no works occurring on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Stormwater and Service Crossings night works  - Park / Mitchell St Intersection (only) Work will be undertaken from Sunday 26 May – Thursday 30 May (finishing 6am Friday 31 May) between 6pm and 6am.

During these works traffic and speed restrictions will be in place. Driveway and pedestrian access will be maintained.

Stormwater and Service Crossings night works– King William Road Work will be undertaken to:

- Install six (6) storm water and five (5) infrastructure crossings in various location across King William Road between Park Street and Mary Street.

- Excavation of common service trenching along both the eastern and western side of King William Road between Park Street and Arthur Street.


These works will be undertaken between Thursday 30 May and Thursday 20 June between 7pm and 6am. Throughout this time no works undertaken on Friday and Saturday evenings. The road will be temporarily reinstated and re-opened to traffic each morning.

For those businesses and residents directly impacted by the works will be visited to discuss the works and any direct impacts prior to the works occurring.

Access to the Precinct

While the transformation of King William Road is underway and construction is happening, the precinct will continue to function as a business, shopping and lifestyle precinct. Council and BMD are committed to providing pedestrian access to the King William Road for the duration of the upgrade. Footpath access to shopfronts will be maintained at all times during business hours.

Further information will be provided regarding access to the precinct and parking in the surrounding areas.
