Trader Update: 19 June 2019

Dear KWR Trader,

Important changes to traffic and on-street parking arrangements from Thursday 20 June to Sunday 7 July.

The purpose of this message is to advise you of changes to the traffic and on-street parking arrangements during the western kerbing works and Park/Mitchell Street intersection upgrade. Changes are being made to improve the safety of motorists, pedestrians and workers and to improve traffic flow.

Footpaths will remain open and pedestrian access will be maintained to all businesses during these works.

Traffic restrictions and access:

Thursday to Sunday From     6am Thursday 20 June to 11pm Sunday 23 June               6am Thursday 27 June to 11pm Sunday 30 June               6am Thursday 4 July to 11pm Sunday 7 July

  • Two-way traffic, city bound (northbound) and southbound on King William Road will be maintained.

  • Left and right turns from King William Road into local side streets will be maintained.

  • Access on to King William Road from local side streets will be maintained.

  • On-street car parking on both sides of King William Road from the Park/Mitchell Street intersection to Arthur Street will not be permitted.

  • From 24 June, Council will be introducing on-street parking controls in side streets to assist with deliveries to businesses and ensure turnover for visitors and shoppers to King William Road. A notice will be delivered shortly regarding this matter outlining all details.

Sunday to Thursday From     11pm Sunday 23 June to 6am Thursday 27 June               11pm Sunday 30 June to 6am Thursday 4 July

  • The Park/Mitchell Street intersection will be temporarily closed to traffic for all north/south and east/west movements through the intersection.

  • The intersection will be re-opened to traffic by 6am each Thursday.

  • During the intersection temporary closure only southbound traffic on King William Road will be available and local traffic will be detoured around the intersection via Opey Avenue, Clarence Street, Westall Street and Jasper Street.

  • City bound (northbound) traffic on King William Road will not be permitted.

  • City bound (northbound) traffic will be detoured via Northgate Street and Unley Road, or via Jasper Street, Wood Street, Weller Street and Union Street.

  • Left and right turns from the southbound lanes of King William Road into local side streets will be maintained.

  • Access on to King William Road from local side streets will be maintained for southbound traffic only.

  • On-street car parking on the eastern side of King William Road will be permitted.

King William Road will be OPEN FOR BUSINESS with local detours in place.

During these times:

  • Driveway access to properties and access to off-street car parking on the western side of King William Road may be restricted for short periods while kerbing works are completed. Advance notice will be provided to those directly affected.

  • Driveway access to properties and access to off-street car parking on the eastern side of King William Road will continue to be available.

Refer to the City of Unley parking information plan for parking within a 5-minute walk.

Advance warning and other traffic signage will be in place to alert road users to the temporary changes to traffic conditions and detour routes.

Pedestrian access across King William Road will be maintained either side of the works area. Traffic controllers will be available to assist pedestrians where works are occurring.

Impacts to Adelaide Metro bus services: Temporary changes to bus routes apply during these times and detours are in place. Bus services 200, 200B and 200C are being detoured via Northgate Street, Unley Road and Greenhill Road to Peacock Road. Signage at bus stops will alert public transport users to the changes and alternative arrangements. For more information, please visit: www.adelaidemetro.com.au

Kerbside collection of waste: During these works, City of Unley general waste, recycling and organics bins usually placed on King William Road for collection should be placed on the nearest side street.
